Indeed, he campaigned on passing "cap-and-trade" legislation, a radical, costly effort to reduce America's traditional carbon energy use.The theory was that new taxes and greater regulations would make Americans pay more for fossil-fuel energy -- a good thing if it reduced our burning of coal, oil and gas. Rick Perry Will Create Jobs? Wait, We Thought Government Didn't Do That

In Texas Gov. Rick Perry's first paid ad which went up in Iowa this week, the candidate for the Republican presidential nomination makes a curious statement. He says as president he will create, at a minimum, 2.5 million jobs. But Perry, like other Republicans and Democrats alike, has been quick to say in the past that the government doesn't create jobs.

Obama Unveils New Student Loan Rules

The Obama administration is revising some rules on federally guaranteed student loans. The administration says the changes will make it easier for graduates to repay them. It's making it easier for students to consolidate loans into a single payment and expanding a program that bases payments on a graduate's income. The new rules will affect 7 million of the 36 million student loan borrowers.

Expedition Looks For Crude In Sunken Oil Tanker

The oil tanker S.S. Montebello was sunk by a Japanese submarine during World War II off the coast of California. A recent expedition to the wreck found that oil believed to still be in the ship is not there. It's full of seawater. It's the Al Capone's vault of the sea, if you will.
